I want my art to speak for those who haven't found the courage or the right words yet.

THE ARTIST BEHIND THE ART
How old are you and where do you live?
I'm 29 years old and live with my two fur cuties Bourbon and Bentley in Dallas, Texas.
How did you become an artist?
My grandparents live in Spain and I spent a lot of time with them growing up. When my grandmother joined a painting class with some other ladies, I decided one day I wanted to go along. The teacher did not like me just sitting around so he gave me a photo, a piece of paper and some charcoal. I must say I was 14 and had never worked with charcoal before and even I was surprised by the result. I changed schools a month later to study Applied Art throughout High-school. I kept working on portrait paintings over the past 15 years and found that it is an interesting way to express myself. My grandmother is still my biggest inspiration and critic.
What is the meaning behind your realistic portrait paintings?
I've seen some dark snow in my nearly 30 years and thankfully I had therapy to get through all that life threw at me but some feelings even I cannot express with words. The best way to process traumas is still through music and painting. Instead of opening up completely and being vulnerable, I paint how I feel. I communicate about traumas through my portraits. Whoever has walked a mile in my shoes will recognize the message, who hasn't might only see the glamour. Which is part of the message I want to bring. That living in a rather wealthy lifestyle can easily blind people for hurt, abuse and trauma. That's why it's important for me that my portrait paintings speak for those who haven't found the right words or courage yet.
How did you end up creating Mixed Media Art?
I'm a self taught mixed media artist and I love how no piece is ever the same. It's an interesting search for the right combinations and techniques.
The reason why I started with Mixed Media Art is because I wanted to provide art to a broader audience and multiple budgets.
Your favorite painting goal with portrait paintings?
I'm looking to collaborate with professionals and organizations that support women that go through traumas or mental health problems and provide support. The ultimate goal from my end is to support charity events and to raise awareness.
